Knowledge Systems

Knowledge systems are techniques or methods that support the land-use planning process. Sometimes, they can be used in different steps of the process but some are especially designed for one particular step. Not all knowledge systems or available methods are described in this book. Also, a general description is given of the knowledge systems, but there are substantial handbooks available for each knowledge system, sometimes even a different one for each possible application. The most important knowledge systems that are used in land-use planning are described shortly.
