Laboratory Methods

Six methods of determining AChE activity have been developed; of these the electrometric method, which measures a pH change, and the colorimet-ric method are most often used. Both methods are effective for serum and erythrocyte testing and are relatively simple, inexpensive, and reproducible. The methods are highly dependent on skill, and their reporting units are not standardized between kits, so that a testing program should select one kit and continue using it. A field testing kit has been tested and released on the market (3,5).
