In filing the cross cut saw the file should be held so as to file from the handle towards the point of the saw. Some filers claim that this will cause a rough or wire edge on the face of the tooth. In furnishing a shop, the first thing to be considered is the forge. There are good portable forges now on the market which may be had for a reasonable price. To any one thinking of buying one of these I would say Don't get one that is too small. One with a fire pan 18x24 inches and a 14-inch fan is small enough.
