the keener will be the resulting cutting edges of the teeth. There is difference of opinion in regard to the way to hold the file. Some men file as indicated in the drawing, filing against the cutting edges of the teeth. Others point the file toward the tip of the saw, and maintain that the saw takes hold better and makes a smoother cut. The method illustrated is the one used most frequently. The position for the filer to stand for filing each side of the saw is indicated in Figure 60. The way to hold the file is shown in Figure 62. A filer may begin at either side and at either end and file every alternate tooth, then turn the saw in the clamp and file the other teeth.
