A good way to drive the fork into the handle is to make use of a heavy, rectangular bar of iron, with a hole in it large enough to strip over the middle tine of the fork, and then hammering it, as shown in Figure 119. The worker should exercise care in starting the tang of the fork in the handle to cause it to hang true.
