2. Hammer the cutting end to an edge, as shown at A, Figure 136, allowing the sides to be hammered out fan shape. The width is partly determined by the size of the bar. The %-in. bar shown in the drawing should be hammered out to a width of % in.
3. Grind the cutting end back to a rounding shape, as shown at C, and to a thickness of about % in., as shown at B, by holding it on the toolrest with the bar aimed at the center of the grinder.
