Fir Douglas

(Pseudotsuga menziesii)

Known also as Columbian pine, red fir, Oregon pint and other names besides, it is a reddish-brown, straightgraincd wood. In long length» it is used traditionally for bridges, masts, pit props and residential construction. It is a good wood for common interior joinery. Although difficult to work, it has an exciting grain pattern. (Can., U.S.A., U.K., N.Z. Austr.)
