of a wood chisel. The end face is then finished, in accordance with Fig. 42e, by working the tool, while held in the vertical position, to and fro along the stone and, mean while, imparting a slight rocking motion to form the curved face of the tip.
After stoning, the scraper should be tried on a piece of steel or cast iron, and if it does not cut freely the stoning must be continued until satisfactory cutting is obtained with but little pressure applied to the tool.
