Conclusions

In Korea, drought has always been the most severe natural disaster. Rapid progress has been made to understand this climatically complex phenomenon by developing various drought indices. Cooperative studies between governmental institutions and universities will stimulate efforts to discover the causes of drought. At the national level, the Korea Meteorological Administration has an important role to play by providing quality weather data and drought information. RDA has the important role of studying agricultural droughts and associated soil and crop environments to build a solid research background and provide decision-support information to administrators. Dissemination of drought information to its users will improve agricultural drought studies.
