The pre-Kharif season stretches from mid-March to June. It is a period with erratic rainfall, a long period of no rainfall, high temperatures, and
increased evapotranspiration. Jute, Aus, and the deep water variety of Aman are common crops generally grown during the pre-Kharif season. Because the Aman variety is grown over the lands subject to inundation, it is not affected by drought. In contrast, both jute and Aus are affected by the varying degrees of droughts depending on the field and climate conditions.
